Trade Test Certificate Section 13 or Section 26D "Red Seal" Artisan Rigger
3 years post-trade test experience.
A valid Medical Certificate issued by an Occupational Health Practitioner Or must be able to obtain one.
Grade 12 or N2 Technical Certificate.
A valid Basic Rigging Certificate will be advantageous.
1–3 years of experience in a heavy industrial, mining, or crane hire environment.

Develop and interpret rigging/lifting plans, ensuring load weights, center of gravity, and crane capacities are correctly calculated.
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards on winding ropes and attachments, overhead crane cables, brakes, drums and hooks and report all defects and breakdowns on lifting equipment to the Senior Engineering Foreman.
Performs rigging maintenance as required and according to the maintenance schedule in the workshop/site and during shaft inspections e.g ropes, tail ends, couplings, chain blocks, slings, winding ropes and attachments and cranes.
Direct the crane operator using standard hand signals or two-way radios, especially during blind lifts.
Perform Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment before every task and ensure all "exclusion zones" are barricaded.
Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
Inspect and select the correct lifting gear (slings, shackles, chains, spreader beams) as specified in the lifting plan.
Assist in slinging and un-slinging loads, ensuring they are balanced and stable before the lift begins.
Conduct daily pre-use inspections of all lifting tackle and report any defects (worn slings, cracked shackles) immediately.
Maintain the rigging store and ensure all equipment is cleaned, coiled, and stored correctly after use.
Use taglines to control the rotation and swing of loads during transit to prevent collisions.
