Pay Rate: $27.31 ($120 a day per diem for those who qualify) 

Pay is Based on experience and qualifications

Job Description:

Hutco, Inc. is hiring Skilled Riggers to support operations at the Newport News Shipyard. Riggers play a critical role in the movement and positioning of ship components, heavy machinery, structural materials, and various onboard systems. Their work ensures the safe, precise, and timely handling of all items essential to the shipbuilding and repair process.

Responsibilities:

• Operate yard cranes, forklifts, and tugboats to move ships and heavy equipment
• Rig and move all ship components (valves, pumps, motors, steel structures, etc.)
• Calculate loads, center of gravity, lift angles, and select proper rigging gear
• Erect, maintain, and dismantle scaffolding
• Install and maintain ventilation equipment on ships
• Work in confined spaces and at extreme heights as needed

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Must pass respirator fit test and physical agility test
• Ability to work assigned shift(s) and meet production needs

Preferred:

• High school diploma or GED
