- Magnet Control: Activate and deactivate the electromagnet to securely attract, transport, and release metal, ensuring proper magnet surface contact for maximum lift strength.
- Daily Inspection: Perform pre-operational checks on crane controls, hoist ropes, brakes, limit switches, and magnet functioning before each shift.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all industrial safety standards, wearing PPE, observing hand signals, and ensuring no load is carried over personnel.

-
Coordination: Collaborate with ground crew, signalmen, and production staff for coordinated lifting operations.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electromagnetism and its applications in steel handling.
- Precision and Spatial Awareness: Ability to operate controls accurately, especially when working in high-temperature or confined spaces.
- Operational Skills: High proficiency in manipulating pedals, levers, and joysticks to move loads smoothly without excessive swaying.
- Safety Consciousness: Deep knowledge of rigging and safety practices, including OSHA standards.
-
Communication: Excellent understanding of standard crane hand signals and radio communication.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: ITI in Crane Operation/relevant trade or 10th Standard minimum.
- Certification: Vlid EOT Crane Operator license/certification (mandatory in most reputable steel plants).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience operating heavy-duty cranes, preferably within a Structural Rolling Mill or integrated steel plant.
-
Physical Fitness: Excellent eyesight (including color vision) and physical stamina to handle working at heights or in harsh environments.
Working Conditions
- Environment: High-temperature factory environment with potential exposure to noise, gas fumes, and dust.
-
Shift Work: The role often requires working in rotating shifts (10-12 hours), including nights and weekends.
