Crane Operator

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile, tower, or overhead cranes to lift and move materials
  • Inspect crane equipment daily before use to ensure safety and functionality
  • Interpret load charts and ensure lifts are within crane capacity limits
  • Communicate effectively with riggers and signalers during lifting operations
  • Ensure loads are properly secured and balanced before lifting
  • Adhere to all site safety procedures and legal requirements
  • Perform basic maintenance and report any mechanical faults or defects
  • Maintain accurate records of operations and inspections
  • Assist with site activities when lifting operations are not in progress

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Valid Crane Operator License / Certification (essential)
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience operating cranes (type-specific experience required)
  • Knowledge of lifting equipment and rigging practices
  • Medically fit and able to work at heights
  • Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
