Joining our dynamic team, BC Steel Buildings is currently seeking a dedicated, safety-oriented Crane Operator to contribute to our ongoing success. As a vital part of our manufacturing operation, you will be responsible for safely operating overhead bridge cranes to move structural steel components, raw materials, and finished products throughout the facility. In addition to crane operation, this position may assist with welding, and general production activities as needed to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To:

- Safely operate overhead bridge cranes to move steel components, assemblies, and materials throughout the facility.

- Perform pre-operational inspections of cranes, lifting devices, chains, slings, hooks, and rigging equipment.

- Properly inspect, select, and use rigging equipment to safely secure and transport loads.

- Communicate effectively with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and other team members during lifting operations.

- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and staging materials for production.

- Support welding and fabrication operations as needed, including tack welding, fit-up, grinding, and material preparation.

- Read work orders, production schedules, and shop drawings to identify material movement requirements.

- Maintain proper housekeeping of assigned work areas.

- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.

- Report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, or incidents immediately.

- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve production and quality goals.

- Must always maintain a high awareness for safety.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

- Previous experience operating overhead bridge cranes in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment.

- Experience with rigging, load calculations, and safe material handling practices.

- Basic welding experience (MIG preferred) and fabrication knowledge.

- Ability to safely use grinders, hand tools, and measuring devices.

- Experience reading shop drawings and production documents.

- Forklift experience is a plus.

- NCCCO certification or equivalent crane certification is beneficial but not required.

- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.

Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., bend, squat, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods.

- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, moving loads, and manufacturing operations.

- Must wear proper safety equipment and comply with all safety requirements.

- Knowledge of basic math, including measurements, fractions, and material calculations.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential within our manufacturing plant to ensure compliance with safety protocols and accurately interpret job orders.

Salary Description

Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
