Crane Mechanic/Technician

Grupo Simples is recruiting a Crane Mechanic Level 3. This professional will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of crane equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. The role requires strong technical expertise in crane systems, along with a solid understanding of operational procedures, to effectively support crane operations.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Deep understanding of crane mechanics, components, systems, and operations.
  • Familiarity with various types of cranes such as mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes, pedestal and King post Cranes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently.
  • Identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and regulations governing crane operations.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to implement safety procedures to prevent accidents.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on crane equipment.
  • Conduct lubrication, adjustments, repairs or replacement of defective parts, and load testing.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Document findings, record maintenance schedules, and generate reports as required.
  • Share knowledge, mentor team members, and ensure adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and clients regarding maintenance activities and repair recommendations.
  • Convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Adapt to changing work environments and handle unexpected challenges effectively.
  • Make quick decisions, be resourceful, and find creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Address client inquiries, respond to service requests promptly, and ensure client satisfaction with maintenance and repair services.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in crane technology, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics or crane operators. Share knowledge, mentor team members, and ensure adherence to best practices and safety protocols.

  • Ensure all activities comply with company QSHE policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or Crane Maintenance is highly preferred. Alternatively, High School diploma or equivalent combined with relevant technical certifications and proven experience in crane maintenance will be considered.
  • Additional certifications in crane systems and heavy equipment (e.g. Liebherr, Cummins Engines, Caterpillar Engines, Terex Cranes maintenance and repair, API Crane Inspector certification, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in crane maintenance and repair, working in both onshore and offshore environments, including FPSOs, drillships, or fixed platforms.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both Portuguese and English.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams).
