Material Handling & Crane Operator 

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Shift: First Shift
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: $22.00/hr (may be higher based on experience)

Position Overview

This role is suited for a versatile team member who can support both yard and shop operations. The position involves handling, moving, and preparing structural steel materials using various equipment. Candidates should be comfortable taking on different tasks throughout the day and assisting across multiple areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Move, handle, and organize materials within the yard and facility
  • Operate overhead cranes to transport structural steel safely
  • Use forklifts and telehandler/Pettibone equipment for material movement
  • Assist with trailer positioning and yard organization
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials
  • Prepare materials for shipment, including skidding
  • Operate machinery as needed to support production
  • Perform parts cleaning and basic material prep
  • Track and manage inventory and supplies
  • Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment
  • Support team operations to maintain workflow efficiency
  • Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

Qualifications

  • Experience operating overhead cranes required
  • Experience with telehandler or Pettibone equipment required
  • Background in material handling or warehouse operations preferred
  • Familiarity with structural steel is a plusAbility to operate forklifts and similar equipment safely
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong multitasking and adaptability skillsAbility to lift and move heavy materials
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skillsAble to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing settings is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks
