POSITION SUMMARY:


Milestone  is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Crane Operator / Truck Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating company cranes and trucks safely and efficiently while supporting project teams and maintaining compliance with all health and safety standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Read, understand and follow MECI’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures
  • Have a working knowledge of Health and Safety rules and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with MECI’s safety department and disseminate pertinent safety information to the project team and subcontractors
  • Must have good communication with direct report on attendance
  • Maintain and service the trucks and Crane as instructed
  • Maintain and uphold the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the truck
  • Complete daily logs and inspections
  • Review and understanding of relevant Lift and Weight restrictions of the Crane in operation
  • Report any deficiencies on the Truck and Crane to the immediate Supervisor
  • Be willing to help support and service other equipment within the company as needed
  • Be willing to help support the General Superintendent on other sites if the truck has no work, within reason and mutually agreed upon
  • Maintain and update project schedule as required
  • Help support the direct report with tasks in and around the shop
  • Must maintain a Valid Class 1 DL
  • Must maintain a Valid Crane ticket for the crane the employee is operating



HEALTH AND SAFETY: 

Reads, understands, and follows MECI’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy, and Procedures. Ensures that health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities, both on and off the job. Participation in Health & Safety initiatives will be monitored and reviewed as necessary. 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience operating cranes and commercial trucks in a construction or industrial environment
  • Proven experience with equipment inspections, maintenance, and safe operation practices
  • Experience working on active job sites with multiple crews and subcontractors
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (DL) (required)
  • Valid Crane Operator Certification/Ticket  
  • Clean driving record and demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment testing 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • High level of responsibility and accountability
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth understanding of crane load charts and lifting procedures
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and inspection requirements
  • ELD -Electronic Log Device - would an asset
  • Understanding of job site safety protocols and hazard identification


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The role involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Candidates must be willing to travel occasionally to locations across BC. Shift schedules vary in duration and frequency, depending on project and client needs, and may include weekends and holidays.
