Position: Crane Operator
We are seeking for an experienced Crane Operator to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).
Responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities
Operate cranes and associated lifting equipment safely and efficiently to perform lifting, loading, unloading, and positioning of heavy machinery, components, and materials.
Conduct pre-operational inspections and verify crane condition, load charts, and rigging gear prior to each lift.
Set up cranes properly, ensuring outriggers, ground conditions, and load capacities are compliant with safe working limits.
Follow lift plans, supervisor instructions, and safety standards for all lifting operations.
Work in coordination with riggers, mechanics, and site personnel to ensure safe load handling.
Assist with the movement and placement of mechanical components such as engines, transmissions, buckets, and other large assemblies.
Maintain the crane in good working condition through daily checks, cleaning, and reporting of maintenance requirements.
Maintain accurate records of crane operations, inspection logs, and lifting permits as required.
Support site logistics and maintenance activities as directed by the supervisor.
Safety Responsibilities
Attend daily pre-start meetings.
Perform visual safety checks before operating machinery.
Comply with EPSA’s safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Operate the machine only within authorized areas and according to established safety zones.
Immediately report any unsafe conditions, near-miss incidents, or accidents to your supervisor.
Environmental Responsibilities
Comply with EPSA’s environmental policies and practices.
Ensure operations are conducted with minimal environmental impact.
Qualifications
Secondary education certificate or equivalent.
Valid and appropriate driver’s license for operating heavy vehicles (Class 2 or equivalent).
Valid heavy equipment operating license
Minimum 5 years of experience operating crane trucks in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
Knowledge of load charts, rigging practices, and crane setup procedures.
Experience operating different types of cranes and heavy lifting equipment.
Training in mine safety procedures.
Experience working in remote or international locations.
