Crane Operator
Description

Responsibilities:

  • Operates remote crane to load and unload outgoing and incoming material. 
  • Locates stock within the warehouse in accordance with the Shift Supervisor/Shipper/Receiver. 
  • Co-operating with shift supervisor and machine operators, referencing traveler picklists, locates and stages materials for processing as needed. 
  • Inspects crane and maintains accurate daily logs. 
  • Decanning/ unwrapping of coils and organizing finished goods.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

General:

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and quality system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions and safety
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality requirements.
  • Complies with the designated quality responsibilities, environmental management system, health & safety and company rules and guidelines.
  • Ensures company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by all department personnel and visitors.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required at all times.
  • Maintains a high standard of general housekeeping consistent with 5S standards.
  • Strives for continuous improvement.

Education & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Valid crane operator licence, in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating an overhead (remote) crane in a steel processing environment.
  • Proven experience handling steel coils or working within the metals industry.
  • Ability to safely operate overhead remote cranes with various load types, including coils, and other heavy materials.
  • Knowledge of coil storage, rigging techniques, and load securement best practices.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts (Days, Nights, Afternoons) 

The base pay for this position is $33.15/hour with a target variable pay of 4%.
