Receiving Crane Operator

Position Summary
A growing metal processing facility in the Portland, TN area is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Receiving Crane Operator. This position is responsible for unloading incoming materials, moving metal coils and other heavy materials safely throughout the facility, and ensuring materials are properly received, inspected, and staged for production. The ideal candidate will have experience operating overhead cranes and working in an industrial environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate overhead crane to unload incoming metal coils and materials safely
Move materials to designated storage or production areas
Inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies
Verify received materials against shipping documents and work orders
Label, organize, and stage materials for production use
Communicate with shipping, receiving, and production teams to coordinate material flow
Follow proper load securement and crane safety procedures
Report damaged materials, equipment issues, or inventory discrepancies
Maintain a clean and organized receiving area
Follow all company safety procedures and policies
Qualifications
Previous overhead crane experience preferred
Manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping/receiving experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Ability to read shipping paperwork and work orders
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Dependable attendance and punctuality required
Forklift experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout shift
Comfortable working around heavy machinery and industrial materials
